She studied at Cooper Union. She painted thousands of covers and prints. Her originals sell for thousands of dollars today. This one is $23.

This is an original New Old Stock vintage lithograph by Charlotte Becker — a baby contentedly drinking his bottle alongside a Wire Fox Terrier and a gray kitten, rendered in Becker's signature style of soft warmth and irresistible charm. Printed by Louis F. Dow Company, St. Paul, Minnesota, circa 1940s–1950s. Four available. Unframed.

Charlotte Becker (1907–1984) was born in Germany and came to America at age five. She studied at the Cooper Union School of Art in New York — one of the most prestigious art schools in the country, founded in 1859 — and went on to create thousands of magazine covers, art calendars, advertisement prints, and illustrations, virtually all centered on babies and children. Her ability to capture innocence, warmth, and the particular softness of early childhood made her one of the most beloved illustrators of her era. Today her original works sell for thousands of dollars at auction.

This print was produced by Louis F. Dow Company, one of the two largest calendar companies in the United States at its peak, known also for their WWII-era military pin-up kits illustrated by Gil Elvgren. Dow's advertisement prints — produced for calendars, thermometers, postcards, and hand fans — preserved Becker's work in a form that is now actively collected. New Old Stock, pristine, never circulated.

Suitable for framing — we recommend framing to preserve it. Beautiful in a nursery, a child's room, or any space that welcomes the charm of mid-century American illustration.

A wonderful piece for a Charlotte Becker collector, a nursery decorator, a lover of mid-century American illustration, or anyone who appreciates genuine vintage charm.
